Lumistu Posted August 21, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I'd like to experiment with HDR, and I wonder if there is an efficient automated way of getting up to 8 pictures with different exposure values. Apparently, the autobracketing mode only takes three exposures. Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with this with this camera? Thanks in advance for any advice. Advertisement Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Hi Lumistu, Take a look here HDR with the D-Lux 4 (How?). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lesh Posted August 22, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 22, 2009 It may not be relevant but....I'm using a D-Lux 3 and can obtain reasonable HDR results from 3 bracketed exposures. I have not tried it myself, but did read somewhere that the way to obtain more than 3 exposures is to shoot bracketed normally, then repeat the process as many times as you like with some exposure compensation set. Clearly a tripod would be essential, and personally I'd have difficulty changing the exposure settings without nudging the camera. Incidentally my LC1 will shoot 5 bracketed exposures but I usually find that it's difficult to see the difference between what that produces and the result from 3 exposures - of course you may have a different result. Good luck with your experiments.
cstevens Posted August 22, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 22, 2009 Lesh is correct I am affraid, so results will be a bit hit and miss I think due to having to re-setup. I have just toe dipped into the world of HDR but using my D700 and taking 7 shots, wonderful results.
Lumistu Posted August 22, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted August 22, 2009 Thank you both for your replies. I think I wil try first with the 3 exposures that I get with the autobracketing feature and see what results I get from that. I guess the best solution to get more exposures would be to use a very sturdy tripod and set the exposures manually. Regards, Tony
