It does have manual focus through the rangefinder for $ 500. Seriously you would think that canon or nikon could truly produce an excellent pure rangefinder with M mount capability. These companies have significant resources and could design the chip from the ground up versus the hodgepodge subcontract type of work that Leica must depend on. It must be that there is simply not enough demand to justify the cost. The old Canon and Nikon RF's are excellent cameras. They have a wealth of experience in the digital world.
