microview Posted August 18, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 18, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Recently I acquired a mint Zeiss 35 f2 Biogon, which proved to be a superb lens (as Erwin Puts noted at the time it was released). Indeed, I prefer it the two samples of the 35mm Summicron ASPH which I have owned. The one thing missing was a front lens cap and, as many will know, a Zeiss replacement is hard to find. Instead I ordered a 43mm Voigtlander which, like the Zeiss, push fits inside even when a hood is in position. However, the lens rim isn't sufficiently deep for the cap to hold in place. It does, though, fit neatly into a B+W uv/ir filter (Leica doesn't offer the 43mm size). Problem solved! And maybe a help to somebody reading this... Incidentally, the projection to the front of the Zeiss hood is a substantial 65mm but the balance of this lens is extremely comfortable on the M8.
