Coding Zeiss 4.5/21

I recall that there was a problem coding this lens for the M8 the usual way due to a different construction of the mount such that the usual replacement 28-90 bayonet could not be used. Now I see that dealers (Popflash) offers this lens modified for the M8, presumably there is a new bayonet of some sorts which can later on be machined by Milich.

It may have been discussed previously, but does anyone recall what is actually being done?

If it indeed can be coded, what is it coded as?

Ivar,

it looks a bit like the flange has a slight groove so you can permanently code the lens yourself with a permanent pen / nail varnish etc. The older version had the 50/75 flange, which cannot be used for proper coding, as the M8 asks for the proper code AND the correct flange type. I'm pretty sure, the "modified for M8" has now got the 28/90 flange already mounted. Maybe you call Tony or Alex to verify.

Regards

Ivo

The 28-90 flange could at least in the past not be used for the 4.5/21, this is part of the problem. If the lens mount has been redesigned lately, I do not know.

If the 50/75 flange comes up, it could be coded as an Elmar 3.8/18, I guess.
