Sans Lens Cap D-Lux 4?

Hi everyone. Got a D-lux 4 a few weeks ago, but had to send it back for sensor repair (mysterious hot/dead pixels all over the sensor when shooting in RAW). Has this happened to anyone? I get my camera back later this week.

Anyways, I was wondering if anybody uses their camera without any lens protection. I'm not into the tethered cap, but I have leaving the lens exposed, and I don't want an auto cover adapter.

Thanks.

Andrio--

Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about your sensor problem.

I dislike the tethered cap, but I use it religiously.

I think some folks on the forum use one of the external attachment adapters from Panasonic or others, and put non-tethered caps on them, or put a protective filter on the adapter and don't worry about it. For me personally, that just makes the camera cumbersome, so I stick with the tethered cap.

Here is a link to a thread showing a great alternative lens cover.

Thanks for the link. Yes, I've seen this before. I think it's genius, but I carry my camera in the leather Leica case, so it won't fit.

Does anyone know if the front element has any kind of anti-scratch coating?
