Advertisement Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Hi johnastovall, Take a look here Leica just doesn't understand doing webpages. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mat_mcdermott Posted August 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 24, 2009 Isn't "just doesn't understand..." a bit harsh? Show me a website which hasn't had formatting errors at one point or another. I'm sure they'd appreciate a quick note informing them of the error.
Jeanette Posted August 24, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 24, 2009 Isn't "just doesn't understand..." a bit harsh? Really? I thought that was one of the main themes of this forum. Lots of its members spend a lot of their time explaining that Leica "just doesn't understand" marketing, electronics, designing cameras, the economy, and so on. I'd be very surprised if those Moderated at Solms could do webpages of all things...
noah_addis Posted August 24, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 24, 2009 I guess it's better than another M9 thread. But seriously, have you ever designed a complex website? It's a minor mistake at best.

scsambrook Posted August 24, 2009 Share #6 Posted August 24, 2009 I'd be very surprised if those morons at Solms could do webpages of all things... Please forgive my ignorance, but what makes them morons?

ho_co Posted August 25, 2009 Share #9 Posted August 25, 2009 Please forgive my ignorance, but what makes them morons? Their webpages, fer cryin' out loud, scam, their moronic, ill-formatted webpages! As Jeanette said, it's our job on this forum to point it out.
kenneth Posted August 28, 2009 Share #10 Posted August 28, 2009 I found Leica USA has all it's contact information listed twice on its web page Leica USA Contacts. That is so the information sinks in. I bet you've contacted Leica AG and informed them of this. Big deal
erl Posted August 28, 2009 Share #11 Posted August 28, 2009 Jeanette, I have moderated your inappropriate description of the people at Solms for obvious reasons. Whatever your view, to which you are entitled, you are required to maintain courtesy and refrain from derogatory remarks towards members and others. As this is an International Forum, we should remember that not all cultures and languages necessarily understand 'irony', as expressed in the English language, and as a consequence may be offended. johnastovall Posted August 28, 2009 Author Share #12 Posted August 28, 2009 That is so the information sinks in. I bet you've contacted Leica AG and informed them of this. Big deal Yes, I contacted Leica U.S.A. but another thing they don't have email contact for the webmaster. Nor do they have in the Owner's area under lenses any of the R extenders of which there are six and at on time hand none of the LTM lenses listed until I notified them. Jeff S Posted August 28, 2009 Share #13 Posted August 28, 2009 It's "its" by the way. What goes around, comes around... Yes, check out my 8/8 post in Barnack's Barnack's Bar..."Its usage...it's driving me crazy." I see about 10 of these a day...from smart participants here. ho_co Posted August 29, 2009 Share #15 Posted August 29, 2009 Erl-- I understand that Jeanette's and my humor may not be the same as yours, but I don't feel it's possible for all of us to avoid at all times saying things that others may find offensive. I would judge that most people reading the comment would have understood its intention, and I think Jeanette's link to an accepted web definition of irony was proper and sufficient. I see a lot of stuff here that doesn't get publicly censured but which IMHO has no redeeming qualities, and I'm amazed at your choice to censor her post. I do appreciate the difficulty of trying to "keep the posters within bounds," and I am pleased that you posted the explanation.
ho_co Posted August 29, 2009 Share #16 Posted August 29, 2009 John-- I believe the Leica US web pages are managed in Germany, not here. If you send your requests for updates to Leica Technical in Allendale, I think they'll get handled expeditiously. Though as for that, you may have already made that discovery since you say Leica added the screwmount lenses after you notified them of their absence. BTW--I didn't realize how many extenders had been cataloged. If they get that omission taken care of, let us know! I imagine a lot of us on the forum would like to hear about it. marknorton Posted August 29, 2009 Share #17 Posted August 29, 2009 I found Leica USA has all it's contact information listed twice on its web page Leica USA Contacts. Difficult to get excited about it. I don't expect a bunch of geeks in Toledo trying to put together a web-site in the German language would do quite as well. Howard, you will be unaware of the extent of 'Moderator bashing' (via PM especially) at present but all we can do is respond when complaints are received, which is what I did. My personal humour and sensitivities I try to keep out of the equation, unless personally provoked, which also happens. Frankly I don't care what people say, incuding the volumes of hot air that abounds, but I reiterate that this is an International Forum which can encompass a variety of sensitivities. Part of my job is to protect those sensitivities. I don't claim to do it expertly, but I am making an attempt. I am more than willing for any brave challenger to assume the responsibility.
