Under/overexposed images can often be recovered. The dynamic range of negatives are also much higher than positive. They are more difficult to work with in post, but the flexibility of the negative far outweighs the disadvantages. Negatives are also great for duping as well. The tight grain of negative b&w is important also. This is why virtually all motion pictures are shot on negative film. So yes I agree with you.
