Hi, i have download the D3 owner manual but some sublementary questions i had not found answers for.

In a review from the L1 i have read, that the manual focus is disable when the camera is off. Is this also on the D3?

Can i turn off the sound on the D3 separatly? For example can i mute the Button- and the "Camera on" Sound and have only activate the Camera-Click?

And is it possible to set the Viefinder to b/w but take the photos in color?

Regards

Manual focus on the Leica 14-50mm, like on the Olympus 4/3 lenses is "by wire", which means the focus ring just sends a signal to the body, which in turn tells the lens to change the focus, so the camera must be turned on. The Sigma 4/3 lenses don't work this way.

I don't recall any camera on or button noises, but the focus beep has two volumes and off.

I don't think there's any way to set the Liveview LCD display to b/w... why would you want to? The D3 is an SLR, and the viewfinder is optical, through the lens.

Thanks for your feedback and two reasons for my b/w question. The b/w viewfinder option will be just for a preview. I will watch a preview of b/w photos on the display but will make colorphotos and change them later with photoshop into b/w. And i`m working with b/w viewfinders at my professional video-cameras. Using a b/w monitor i`m a little bit more concentrate on contrast and focus.

And i have the noise question cause i`m the owner of a D2. And to know, that the photos is defenitly made, i need a sound-feedback. But if i put this option on at my D2, every button and action on the camera is making sounds. And this sucks a little bit.

If you set the "film type" to B&W, the Liveview LCD display is B&W. I haven't tried it, but presumably the RAW data is still color, so you could achieve what you want.

The D3 is very different from the D2. You will have NO difficulty knowing that the shutter has fired -- it makes a very distinctive mechanical sound.
