D-lux 4 - How to install the lens cap strap?

By lens cap "strap" do you mean the black "string" ? Assuming you have the Camera Instructions, there's a "how to" diagram on page 10. If you don't have the Instructions, look on the main Leica Camera web site for a free pdf version to download.

Yup that's what I was referring to. I must have skipped right over that in my instruction manual last night! I'll reference page 10 tonight, thanks.

The diagram in the instructions is ridiculously small (like the size of a quarter). Would someone mind explaining how to install? Am I supposed to pull apart the "string" to thread it through? Can I reconnect the string afterwards? Don't want to mess anything up...

Congratulations on selecting a very nice camera. Don't pull apart the cord. Simple work the end through the opening on the lens cap, then pull the other end through it. That should tighten the cord to the cap, then attach the cord to the neck strap. You can easily remove it at any time.

There is a Ricoh lens-cap adaption that can replace this lens cap. It screws on to the camera and opens and close automatically. It costs about $20. Let me know if you want to see a link that shows how it works. I have not ordered it yet, but am very tempted.

Here's the link for the Ricoh adapter: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/83277-lost-lens-cap-d-lux-4-a.html
