dkCambridgeshire Posted August 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) On page 72 of "Leica News & Technique May-June 1938" the magazine states: ' From "Sporting News" in "TheTimes" on May 16th we learn that when the Aston Villa team played a German team at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, each English player was presented with a Leica camera.' No mention of the actual model(s) or lenses but I wonder if any of them still exist or if they might have subsequently been donated to the British Government for the war effort? Seems to have been a very generous gesture; the article does not state who sponsored the gifts. I wonder if any of the cameras might still be in the possession of the footballers' families? Cheers dunk

john_newell Posted August 3, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2009 Those miniature negatives will never catch on. Image quality is too low. If it isn't full size, at least 3 1/2" in one dimension, you'll never get good prints.
