Several months a go I got an APO Telyt 180/3.4.

I got a call from the shop, that the clerk had forgotten to give me the case and filters that came with it. Well, It's here. The case is black leather labled Leitz (made in German) it is much larger than a brown Leitz of New York #5 case which fits the 180/3.4 lens perfectly.

My mystery is wait are the four E32's for? They are in s special compartment in the top of the case

Each fiter has the following Leica Number on it. Red 13401. Orange 13402, Yellow 13403 and ND 4x 13404.

Also each filter states it is "Made in Japan" and has 'Leitz R8 \500 ' on the ring.

They are mentioned on Laney's Guide on page 394 but no clue as to their use.

I wonder if they are for the AP Telyt 180/2.0 and are for the filter tray.

What have I got here and what can I use them for...

The 180mm f:2 is the only R lens of that focal length that uses filters in a drawer. So I suspect that the overlarge case is for this lens, not for your 3.4 originally. The filters should be Series filters without threads. If these are E32 filters, then they are not original either ...
