griffster Posted July 29, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking to get an IR filter for my D-Lux 4 (+lensmate) so I can make some otherworldy pictures. Does anybody have any experience with IR filters? I'm guessing there come in various strengths... Will it even work with my D-lux or isn't the sensor sensitive to IR? Should I confiscate my sister's Praktica and go analogue?
Advertisement Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Hi griffster, Take a look here IR Filter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mjh Posted July 29, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 29, 2009 Point a remote control at your camera, press any button on the remote, and check whether you see the IR LED light up on the camera display. If it does (the brighter, the better), the camera is suitable for IR photography. A 720 nm filter would be a good choice for a start; alternatively, a 780 nm filter would filter out even more of the visible light, but require slower shutter speeds (or a higher ISO setting).
