Coding a 28mm M Rokkor

Has anyone managed to code a 28mm 2.8 Rokkor M. Have searched extensively and can find no info on a code for this lens nor anyone who has successfully achieved it.

Have experimented and tried various codes for other 28 lenses but none bring up any Exif info. Would like to try and get coded so I can use the IR/Cut filter on it, when it arrives, without the cyan problem, perhaps I may get away without coding but would be nice to do it if possible.

Any advice anyone, does it really need coding? Is there a code? anyone know of a source for finding the right code?

Hello Uptong,

Check out Carstens page of lens codes

Leica M8 Lens Codes

Here is a JPG of the marking position - print and cut

You said that nothing bring up any info, that seems to me like the marks are not positioned correctly or need a more solid black.

In order for the coding to work correctly, the lens has to activate the correct frame lines. The 28mm Rokkor brings up the 35mm frame - the frame activating lug has to be built up with more material, so that it can activate the 28/90mm frames.

Best,

Jan

Thanks guys, looks like I will have to look round for someone in UK that can do the build up to get right frame lines then go on from there.

Thanks for info

Hi uptong,

Malcolm Taylor should be able to mill the 6 bit coding slots for you and quite possibly also do the build-up work on the mount too. He often has a small advert in the back of Amateur Photographer if you need his contact details.

Kind regards Simon
