I love my M6

I have owned an M2, M3, M4 and a CL. On a trip to London last year, I stopped at Classic Camera and fell for an M6. I bought it and have been delighted with it. I did have a problem with the meter and had to send it to Leica in NJ, but it has been flawless since then. I really love the camera.

I´ve got a black M6 with the "Leitz" logo and I´ll try to find one in chrome as well.

But they are very rare, so I suppose it will take some time.

I also think that the combination M6 + Cron-M 35 and some Delta 100 film is just about the perfect combination so I always have it with me.

It´s small, built like a tank and fits well in a normal coatpocket.

I first owned an Leica M7 bought second hand. The problem I had with it was that once the batteries are low or flat you just got 2 exposure times that work manually.

I had the problem twice and decided to sell the M7 and bought a secondhand M6 + 35 cron. I never regret to have sold the M7 except for the brighter viewfinder.I never used aperture priority mode, as I work with an external exposure meter.

The M6 is a joy to use.

I bought my first M6 from Classic Camera who until last year were a Leica agent. Having said that they are not flavour of the month on this forum. I spoke to Andy recently and he said he was very happy answer any grievance that anyone had if they cared to contact him

I have a pretty much mint '85 M6 Wetzlar, and I have always thought the build quality was the best of the various M6 versions. The initial Solms versions certainly had some teething problems, the later ones were improved somewhat.

So mine is 24 years old, I had the viewfinder upgrade done during a recent CLA (it's first BTW) and as a result I am not tempted by the latest MP, or M7........a MP3 for a reasonable price might be tempting though
