tim7227 Posted July 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) A while ago my M 6 came back from a rangefiner adjustment. For some time now I notice that the film refuses to advance halfway through the frames, at frame 12-15 the film just stops, like if it was at the end of the roll. When I tried to use a film with 12 frames in stead of 36, the problem occured at frame 6, so this didn't help ... I also noticed that the rewind crank does not turn 'regularly' as it does on my other Leicas. The exposed frames do seem to be ok though, there's no overlap, the camera just stops at half the number of frames. Anyone have an idea what can cause this and how to solve this problem ? thanks Tim

micky Posted July 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 28, 2009 Hello Tim It sounds a little bit like a problem I had with one of my M4´s. The problem was the rewindcrank itself. I don´t know exactly what it was since it sort of solved itself. Try this: Wind on a film. When it stops, try to move it on with the rewindcrank. If it goes moothly (4-6 frames), it is not the problem. But if it turns with resitense, it could be the problem. On my M4 it just loosened itself after a couple of times and I still haven´t had it checked. It works as normal again with no lightleaks or other problems, but maybe the problem returns after a while. Maybe it has to do with age and wear. :)
