jlroyer Posted July 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been using my Leica M8 since they were first introduced. However, I quit checking the user forum some time ago. What is the maximum size memory card the M8 is capable of handling? Thanks for you info, in advance. Nicoleica Posted July 27, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2009 Have you upgraded your firmware to the current version? (Or anything over v2.0.) If so, then you can use any size SD or SDHC card that you like. (I think that 32GB is the current maximum.) However, anything over 8GB will cause the available frame counter to read 999 until you use enough card space to bring the available frame count down to under 999. gwelland Posted July 28, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 28, 2009 Be aware that not all large SDHC cards are equal ... I've had intermittent problems with 'Card Full' errors with one of my Prospec (Calumet) 16GB SDHC - of course it might just be a one off. No problems with 16GB Lexar or SanDisk Extreme cards. MitchoIankov Posted July 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 28, 2009 The card must be fast. For SDHC it must have speed rating of 6 (or more) for SD it has to be x133 (or faster). I use 4GB cards with no problem. Bigger ones will put too many (for me) pictures at risk if something goes wrong.
