M8 v D10

I just got back from a vacation with my family. I bought a Canon PowerShot D10 to take pictures of my granddaughters in and around the pool. (It's waterproof down to 10 meters.) Since that camera was often "at hand" I ended up taking a whole lot of pictures with it.

When I got home I put all my photos in one file on Lightroom. I decided to look at all my pictures . . . without any processing . . . just to see what I had. I used the Slideshow feature in Lightroom on an iMac.

The first pictures to come up were the pictures taken with the D10. They were quite nice. In fact they were so nice that I was asking myself why I even bothered with taking the M8. :(

Then the M8 pictures came up on the screen. I knew why I had taken my M8. :D The clarity and color of the M8 photos was (is) fantastic!

I'm not going to post any pictures because they are mostly snapshots and my photos leave a lot to be desired but it is nice to know that the M8 takes some pretty good pictures.

That is the exact reason I can't pull the trigger on any P&S or M 4/3 camera. Last year I bought a Canon G9 for those times I didn't feel like taking the M8. Everytime I'd take shots with it and then compare them to M8 images I wasn't pleased. So I sold it as I stopped taking it anywhere.

i'm in the same boat.

i bought a g9 last year for when i wouldnt want my m8 around.

that was never, i was unimpressed with the files and the size was just about the same.

id say bring the m8 everywhere and enjoy!

Me too. I bought a G10 for the same reasons, but I rarely if ever use it. and when I think about the new Olympus, I quickly remember what I have done and not done with the G10. Remembering is helping me to save $900. A few more cameras not bought and I'll be able to buy a 24 lux.
