canus Posted July 20, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was wondering if whether anyone knows the difference between the Fotodiox (Fotodiox) and the Camera Quest adaptor (Adapters: Olympus E-1). The Fotodiox one is 27$ while the Quest adaptor is 175$. Also, has anyone ever tried the Summicron R 50mm f/2 on the Digilux? My local store has one for sale in mint condition for 500$. Anyone have any reservations/opinions on this lens?

canus Posted July 21, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted July 21, 2009 do you think the price is reasonable? 500$ canadian? may I ask, which adaptor are you using?
twittle Posted July 21, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2009 I'd say if the lens is truly mint, $500CA is a good price. There's an older one on eBay right now with a buy-it-now price of $499US.
doubice Posted July 21, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 21, 2009 The adapters look the same and if they are both made in Japan, I would not be surprised if they were identical. For a difference of approx. US$150.00 I would go with the Fotodiox adapter and spend the difference in a good restaurant or on whatever strikes your fancy. As to pricing, best way to find out is not to check what somebody wants for the lens in a Buy it Now auction, rather check completed items: http://completed.shop.ebay.com/items/__Summicron-R-50mm?LH_Complete=1&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283&_rdc=1 I think that Can$500 is a little steep for the lens. On a 4/3 camera it will not matter if the lens has 1 cam, 2 cams or 3 cams. Just get the cheapest one, unless you already have an R body with certain cam requirements. Thus spoke a cheapskate....... denniswksit Posted July 22, 2009 Share #7 Posted July 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My used R 50 f.2 is around $3,000 Hong Kong Dollar, i.e. about US$385. I use a "Made In China" adaptor, at around $150 Hong Kong Dollar, i.e. around US$20. So far, I am extremely happy with it!
