Nick De Marco Posted July 18, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) .... or "Imposter in a Leica shop" The last two days I have been taking my Canon P out with me. I really like this little rangefinder. It's easy to use (easier loading than Leica screws or Ms), looks good, small and light and, best of all, it is the only screw rangefinder I know that has framelines for a 35mm lens (anyone know any others?) Of course it's not a match for my M6 - my favourite RF camera. But for some reason I can't figure out I like using older screw cameras and simple RFs, and the Canon P is one of the best I have come across. Anyone else in love with this one too? Took it out with me and an M2 recently, mainly to play with a couple of Canon RF lenses and a Shanghai lens. Will post results when I get them Nick

doubice Posted July 19, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 19, 2009 Nick, The P used to be one of my favourites.... Finder actually shows frames for 35, 50 and 100mm lenses - all projected simultaneously. There were other Canon LTM bodies that incorporated a 35mm finder - the VT, L, VI and their variations, and of course the latest 7 and 7S models. The P however, was the first one with projected frames for the 35mm lens. A black P is quite a rarity today and yours appesars to be in excellent shape! The 1.2/50mm lens is also quite interesting - try it on the M8! Best, Jan
