kamilsukun Posted November 12, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gentleman, Leica is not a democratic subject. If you had to ask masses, who do you think would vote for the production of a $5000 camera. Very few of course. Or at most the minority. Now the forum is democratically destroying the M8 project. The discussion going this wild has harmed Leica reputation. Internet is boiling with the news. We made the information this public. I propose a week off for posting messages to existing threads and/or posting new ones so that we can let our thoughts mature. Lecia M8 is not just another product. It is not just another lens. If it was, no matter how small the fault is, everyone would have the right of firing severely. It is almost a revolutionary product. It has only been a week after the first few cameras have been delivered. We all know very well about the computers with shutdown problems, extreme heating issues, batteries causing fire and many many more. Same thing is valid for cars. What happened with these. They are all fixed, called back or replaced. We have full confidence on Lecia's sincerity and dedication on quality. How can they ignore these problems? They will never do. So, I propose the administrators, moderators and all members to stop writing on this subject until Monday the 20th of November. Let us calm down a little bit and think about the consequences of the writings so far. OK. Lecia had an accident. But The Forum made another one and made the situation worse. After all M8 is absolutely not our sole subject to talk on. If this storm continues, there will probably be some physical attacks on the factory. All in my humble opinion. Advertisement Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Hi kamilsukun, Take a look here HOLD IT Please!.. A proposal to stop M8 discussions for a week. . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
graham_mitchell Posted November 12, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 12, 2006 I agree. I wouldn't hold it against the mods if they just closed this forum altogether for a week. It's beyond silly.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted November 12, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 12, 2006 Guys do what i am doing ignore it and work on getting you back on the field of play, it just is flat out wasted energy and does not solve what we need to solve. i personally am going to keep on truckin on to get us working with the M8 . Yes Houston we have a problem but we can't get on the space craft to fix it, we have to help from here and that is my plan. It is unfortunate that some just want to blame everything in sight. My blood pressure is on low and it will stay there:D
frc Posted November 12, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 12, 2006 What's left to say. The buyers are disappointed, some angry. If leica doesn't see that by now, they never will. But I can't see how they couldn't have gotten the message. I'm looking foreward to getting the M8 in good working order. It seems I'll have to practice some patience. So does every one. Besides, I already have a fantastic camera, guess which brand. It eats film for breakfast. Let us leave the Solms engineers do there job without bashing from this forum. I wish Leica succes. regards, Fr.

KM-25 Posted November 12, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 12, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica is the best camera and lens maker on Earth. The M8 is not a real camera in the sense of what we have come to expect from Leica. No digital camera is a true photographic tool anymore, just electronics limited by technology at the time. This poor company is trying to stuff a bunch of limited use electronics into a classic and highly revered M style body. They made the chip as large as they could for the compact unit and had to make the introduction deadline to appease this whole new sick bunch of techno-geek laden wannabe photographers. I have decided I WILL buy an M8 once they fix the problems. To all the folks who are ticked off about being deceived, it happens. Most of the time, no one gets caught, but it is a business and things happen. Besides, this is not Canon we are talking about here, a company who's technology is so sound that one can buy a new model and expect only minor introduction bugaboos, this is LEICA! They are new to this photography destroying game of digital, this is their first real digital camera. So you all pre-order a completely un tested product? That is just plain nuts. Take the M8 out of the equation for a moment. Leica looks pretty good then, does it not? Let's support them, not hammer them. Get out a REAL camera like an M6 and shoot some real photos, not the stupid pixel laden ones in which you have NO choice of what brand of film you use. dannirr Posted November 12, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 12, 2006 Discussion on this forum, or any other place, did not harm Leica's reputation. Leica did. But, because they are Leica, they will make it right and I believe they will make sure the early release cameras will be corrected at their expense. They know what's at stake. But, withholding discussion and censoring posts (unless vulgar) does not serve the buying public, nor Leica. They need to see the outrage and uproar to fully realise their mistake. And they will. suse Posted November 12, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 12, 2006 Oh what baloney. If Leica couldn't take a few of their dedicated users discussing issues, then they would have no hope! I think they're a bit better that that! The problem is some of the Leica forum readers not being able to keep a sense of perspective when they read other people's opinions and experiences. Oh, and while we're at it, could you stop the sexist stuff "Dear Gentlemen". Yeah, in some parts of the world women are allowed to read. Some are even allowed to own their own computers and cameras. stunsworth Posted November 12, 2006 Share #11 Posted November 12, 2006 Sue, the main problem as I see it is that we are reading variations on essentially the same message dozens of times a day. By now I think we all realise that Leica screwed up and need to correct the problems. It's getting boring.

MSmelik Posted November 12, 2006 Share #13 Posted November 12, 2006 Yes let's give them a weeks rest. After all it's not very fair the way we are treating them. For $5000 I don't expect a perfect working camera anyway. As for misleading their customers, well it's forgivable isn't it, taking the circumstances into account. Let's give them a chance to come up with something new, a solution in time, a vague promis, whatever ... but let's not critisize what ever they come up with, delicate little flowers, must take care now.... and if in future we must walk around with big red filters on our lenses, so be it, after all it's a leica So yes brilliant idea to delete all negative M8 posts from the forum. I for one don't understand people that get angry and want to blow of some steam after having bought a 5000$ camera, having updated their lenses, which after some use proves useless in some areas of photography, and then find out they have been "bulled" by Leica, trivialities, all trivialities. vic vic Posted November 12, 2006 Share #14 Posted November 12, 2006 kamil... i agree with u totlly.. in fact... from the moment leica made its official comment to this forum i promised to stop talking at all about m8.. actually to stop thinking about m8 at alll.... leica is no more no less a beloved brand, which made one of my most beloved cameras and lenses etc... if u ask me in assosiation game "photography", i may easily answer "leica".. cause this is my most beloved tool. as for... we all have to give a chance to leica to make what they need and even to give it as much time as requaired... and that includes not only potential users of the m8 like me, but also, pleasee!!!.... the already existing owners of m8. but with it..... the great hope is that leica itself will make its moves both in terms of camera issues and in terms of its PR...... yes.. they made mistakes... but really we all have to give them another chance..... another big bg chance..... just give them the chance to do what they have done many times... great photo-tools
