While using the M8 this morning, I noticed that the frame lines in the viewfinder started to shift from top left to middle right of the viewfinder, when I focus from infinity,I have tried all my lens, and the same thing is happening on all of them!

Am I going mad, or is this normal, if so I have never noticed it before? can any of you guys shed any light on what is going wrong!! I have never seen this happen with my M6.

Dose the rangefinder need adjustment?

Sorry if this is a simple question.

Thanks Steve

Leica had to work long and hard to get those framelines to move. It's not a problem!

The Leica solution is better than the Bessa because both the framelines and the rangefinder patch move. In the Bessa, only the framelines move and the patch is then distinctly off-centre at close focus.

Then you never used your M's on a tripod.

I noticed this back in 1972 with my first M3.

It is the parallax correction at work. The viewfinder is off center to the lens so the closer you focus the more to the right and lower the framelines have to be.
