gwelland Posted July 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone have a handle on the supply of 24 'lux in the US? I'd read about supply issues and it seems like nobody has stock at the moment. Does anyone have any insight on when/who might have one of these available relatively soon? Is the supply situation any better in the UK? I could almost justify a summer trip 'home' to buy one ex-VAT even at the current GBP/$ rates.
Advertisement Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Hi gwelland, Take a look here Finding a 24 Summilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Marty Posted July 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 10, 2009 Been waiting about 3 months already in the UK. David Farkas in the US had one some time ago but it seems to be out of stock right now. Probably best to just phone around - there aren't that many dealers - and then get in line
noah_addis Posted July 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 10, 2009 If you haven't done this already, I'd suggest asking David at Dale Photo. Even if he doesn't have one I'd bet he can get one as fast as anyone. That's where I got mine. It arrived next day and Dale offers incredibly good customer service. David even called me to make sure I was happy with the lens and we spoke for quite some time. He's definitely the most knowledgeable person I've ever spoken to at a camera store. I'm not affiliated with the store in any way, just a happy customer. It's an incredible lens by the way, without a doubt the best lens I've found for the M8 and I'm sure it's beautiful on film too. It will be worth the wait.
Jeff S Posted July 10, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 10, 2009 You might try Keeble and Schuchat in Palo Alto, CA...ask Jeff Alford. Also, Classic Connection (Sam Shoshan) lists lens as "in stock" on his website...don't know if it's up to date. Jeff
gwelland Posted July 10, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted July 10, 2009 It's an incredible lens by the way, without a doubt the best lens I've found for the M8 and I'm sure it's beautiful on film too. It will be worth the wait. It would seem to hold the promise of being the M8 version of the 35 'lux which is what really appeals to me. It would also prompt me to perhaps do some lens house keeping and simplify my system (hah! famous last words ...). Thanks for the heads up on Dale - David seems very generous with his informative posts and presence elsewhere too.
dfarkas Posted July 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 10, 2009 I do actually have two in stock at the moment. Our website hadn't been updated with our last shipment. My bad. Leica Summilux-M 24mm f/1.4 ASPH David
