Jeff S Posted July 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) For over 20 years my primary film M output was bw prints from my own darkroom. With a relatively recent switch to digital...camera and processing...I find myself enjoying working with color. Not to the exclusion of bw, but as a supplement. I attribute this to several things, I guess. For one, I shoot Raw, and the option is there. Next, my goal (still, so far) is the finished print...and having never owned a color darkroom, and given a preference to do my own printing, I now have the tools to do so. As important, I suppose, is my apparently suppressed desire to see the world, photographically, in a different way. Underlying this shift, for me, is a requirement to visualize the final print, at time of capture, in either bw or color. While the options are there, I still need to capture an image with the end in mind. This has introduced a new complexity to my shooting habits...one I'm still learning to embrace. I'm curious if others have had a similar experience. And, to the many long time M8 users here, if/how you've straddled the bw/color divide.
