wparsonsgisnet Posted July 9, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 9, 2009 I echo the "good stuff" comment and also add my praise for sharing one's art. The bride is a ballet choreographer and has spent decades getting beat up in the press. When I get the periodic ding for one of my pictures, I understand a little of what she goes through most weeks. Congratulations to Imants, first for the great pix he continually displays, and second for sticking his neck out. There is a story about Picasso (I think), who asked a woman at one of his exhibitions what she thought of the paintings. Her response was, "I don't know anything about art, but I know what I like." To that he answered, "Madam, so does a cow." With regard to dance criticism in the New England area, specifically, most of the reviewers don't know much about what they are criticising. Part of this is our own fault, as we keep taking art and music out of the curricula in our schools while we leave sports in. The combative and ignorant cricis we meet everywhere we go are the result. Kudo's to Imants.
