grober Posted November 12, 2006 Share #21 Posted November 12, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'd post some if I knew how. Where is the tutorial on this blog that instructs on this issue? Do I have to specifically take shot at the lowest resolution setting on the M8? (I know the 10mp shots are too big.) Anyone? -g

grober Posted November 12, 2006 Share #23 Posted November 12, 2006 NOT taken with the M8; taken three years ago with my M7 + Tri-Elmar (2nd version) set at 50mm. This owner's sense of spelling says it all... Thanks, Tim for showing me how. Welcome, dear visitor! twistedpixel Posted November 12, 2006 Share #26 Posted November 12, 2006 Some from today in Kuala Lumpur; with 90mm Macro-Elmar and 35mm Summilux. Mostly at 320 and 640 ISO and low shutter speed which shows. A great camera, soon to be even greater. And try getting these kind of shots with a D2X - I've tried, forget it. And that's before we speak of the lenses. Hello everyone, my first Post.....gotta start somewhere. I was tired of lurking for weeks reading about M8 issues and was waiting for a thread that didn't have any topics describing flaws with the new camera. Mine should show up in 2 days. Snagged the last chrome version from B&H 3 days ago placing the order at 3am (jet-lag helps sometimes). I picked this particular post because I was a little perplexed by the comment regarding the D2X. I shoot a lot at night, no flash, handheld, usually between ISO 320 and 640 with a D2X an 85mm f1.4 AF and a (relatively unknown) Auto-Topcor 58mm f1.4 manual focus lens. I got the M8 with a Noctilux and a 28mm Summicron, as they are more practical to use at night, and way lighter than what I use now. So far I had a lot of luck photographing elusive subjects with the D2X, so I should imagine that with the M8 will be like having an invisible cloak . I will post images once I get familiar with the camera in the following weeks. Alessandro http://www.directlight.com
edlaurpic Posted November 12, 2006 Share #27 Posted November 12, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've got some good ones. Could someone give me quick instructions about how to post several shots? How should the images be saved for upload (ppi, size, type (jpeg/whatever, etc) and then I assume one can just click a button as part of posting. Of course, this information must have been posted before, but I can't find it. Thanks in advance for your help. Ed

drjon Posted November 12, 2006 Share #29 Posted November 12, 2006 Enjoy your M8, you will be invisible compared with the D2X. Never taken my D2X anywhere at night for candid shooting, but during the day it has been my experience that it atrracts a lot of attention.

twistedpixel Posted November 12, 2006 Share #31 Posted November 12, 2006 Enjoy your M8, you will be invisible compared with the D2X. Never taken my D2X anywhere at night for candid shooting, but during the day it has been my experience that it atrracts a lot of attention. Thanks, I honestly can't wait to take it for a spin between 9pm and 6am! The D2X definitely attracts attention, but when I am in China (most of the year), my presence and being foreign acts as an invisilble cloak for the camera. Steen Posted November 12, 2006 Share #33 Posted November 12, 2006 (...) Could someone give me quick instructions about how to post several shots? How should the images be saved for upload (ppi, size, type (jpeg/whatever, etc) (...) Hi Ed I just found this about your question: About the Leica Forum >> Rules for the Use of the Leica Camera User Forum >> Publication of Photographs: "Forum members uploading photo(s) into the forum declare that: The photo(s) is(are) neither associated with the forum licensee nor the firm LEICA Camera AG He/she/they is(are) the author/originator of the published photo(s), bear(ers) of all associated legal rights and that they do(es) not violate any third-party claims Pictures containing human beings may only be published by obeying all legislative regulations with regard to copyrights/intellectual properties of the person shown on the photo Photos which cannot be accepted for moral, ethical or religious reasons will be deleted immediately without prior notice and comment. Prerequisite for placing a photo is that it has been made with Leica equipment and/or has a strong relationship to a Leica subject. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes the use of Leica lenses on third party bodies, Leica lenses on Leica partner cameras (e.g. Panasonic) and the use of third party lenses on Leica bodies. In general, photographs taken without the use of Leica equipment are not permitted. The maximum image size is 960 x 640 pixels and with a file size not exceeding 240 Kb. As a sign of respect towards users having no broadband internet access a single post should not contain more than three photos." But I don't know how to post several shots. Just give it a try. blakley Posted November 12, 2006 Share #40 Posted November 12, 2006 Since it's got IR sensitivity, I figured what the heck. HIE is expensive anyway.... Both shots taken at ISO 320 in Black and White mode with a 50/1.2 Noctilux at f/5.6 (Aperture-priority auto). I used a B+W #91 deep red filter (series 8 - not looking forward to trying to find a series 8 486 hot mirror filter...). I did not shift focus at all on these shots (there's no IR focus mark on this lens). These are cropped to 8x10 aspect ratio and downsized to 120 dpi (from about 320 in camera) and were shot as JPEGs. No sharpening, curves, or other such fooling around.
