robofc Posted July 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 2, 2009 Hi, The ACMAXX works wonderfully. It is unlike any of the thin plastic protectors, which always look cheesy and degrade the view. It looks like an original part of the camera.
doubice Posted July 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 2, 2009 Hello, I have the ACMAXX protector on a Digilux 2, Canon G7 and my wife's Canon SD something. Very happy; they will eventually scratch but protect the camera's LCD from the same scratches. On my M8, I decided to use a GGS glass protector (search for it on eBay) and found that the plastic is actually better for viewing - not as many reflections as on the glas. Eventually removing the glass protector will probably be a bit of a nightmare, as it may break when being pried off. The manufacturer suggests a Credit Card for prying it off - that may distribute the forces more evenly and prevent the glas' breakage. Best, Jan
ShivaYash Posted July 2, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted July 2, 2009 So the ACMAXX is better?

sfokevin Posted July 2, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 2, 2009 Looks very interesting. I too wondered about how/if/what happens when you take it off... There was a previous thread where someone was removing their "Protective Cover" and tore the Leica LCD cover right off with it too I have the Sapphire upgrade and have never looked back
ShivaYash Posted July 2, 2009 Author Share #9 Posted July 2, 2009 Thanks but I do dislike the way people on this forum say things like: "Just get the LCD upgrade..." Am I the only one who has other things to spend money on, other than camera gear? I object to spending a silly amount of money on things which won't make my photos better. I am happy to try a $20 sticker if it helps but will not spend hundreds on a silly upgrade, which to be honest, the first M8 should have had anyway! ShivaYash Posted July 2, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted July 2, 2009 Sapphire glass - EUR 1150 In GBP - £982 I paid £1700 for the camera, surely spending 42% on the LCD is madness? Esp. considering one can purchase the M8.2 now (2nd hand) for about £2500ish. OK, rant over. Apologies, nothing personal, just can't stand how all Leica stuff is SO expensive. I've been using Leica gear for nearly 10 years now, but still can't get over the entrance price point.

Agreed....The camera will still function if the LCD is scratched..nor will it take even better pictures with a $1300 sapphire LCD screen ....Seriously, the sapphire glass of my watch is 1/2 the size but with that upgrade I could buy a few spare watches! I got the GGS awhile back, it's very clear and does it's job. It does make a few pixels on the sides hard to see, but it doesn't bother me. It's gone thru Egypt and Costa Rica withhout a scratch~

Two kids in an Ivy League college, no financial aid. Maybe $90-100k per year. My camera budget is fed solely on the principle of cannibalism...
