M8 battery charger makes noise?

I'm charging the M8's batter from wall power using the supplied adaptor.

Neither the adaptor nor the battery heats up, and I don't smell anything funny, but the adaptor makes a quiet but clearly audible noise which I'd describe as "fizzing". Have others experienced this?

Almost all power supplies/chargers nowdays do not use old fashioned transformers.

These operated at 50/60 Hz frequency, were rather bulky and quite inefficient, the smaller the less efficient.Small transformers ( delivering few watts) had efficiencies of about 60%.

The newer type are switching type, very light and also quite efficient (80-95%).

They operate at higher frequencies, generally above 15 kHz.Many up to several MHz.

Almost all work above hearing range of human ear.

Internal circuitry of some might , under certain load condition go into intermittent operation eithewr at heavy load or at the end of charging cycle, perhaps reaching down to the or below threshold of our hearing range.

Should any part be allowed to "vibrate" at this frequency, we can hear it as a high pitched tone or buzz.

It might be a design or manufacturing flaw. In general it is not an indication of an improper operation, but quite annoying one.

I suggest to return one at some opportunity. The supplier should became aware of it in any case.
