Like most polls one encounters, this one is limited and unclear in its request.

"Are you satisfied" ..........

a. with Leicas announcement?

b. with the progress on the M8?

c. with the situation now?

d. with simply a promise?

As a sceptic, I always look for the hidden 'push' in carefully(?) crafted questions. Mostly there is no complete option for my truthful and full answer.

Just so I don't appear to be attempting to 'rock the boat', let me stae in my own words how I feel about the M8 at present.

I am very pleased and relieved that Leica have come out with their comment on the state of play. I sincerely hope, and trust, that they will succeed. My order for an M8 is still standing, but I hope it does not come through till the full and correct fix is effected. So, yes I am happy with Leicas comment, but I am not happy that the M8 is not yet up to merchanable quality.

Roll on the next few weeks with success.

Cheers,

Erl

Vague promises and rhetoric. Be a good boy and eat your saccherine, and trust.

Collateral damage? Zebra stripes for those that dont need them. Heh...so Leica weedles another fifteen hundred US$ for something I dont need. That is amusing too. Got to laugh or you would get bitter. :D

It would be interesting to see how wany of the satified and awaiting developments would find the situation acceptable if they had already paid and taken delivery. There is a distinct "I am not putting my money where my mouth is and it hasn't happened to me" so it is ok. That is disturbing.

Dennis,

Your statement on patience is ok, since you are going to wait it out and see what Leica comes up with prior to purchasing. In that case, I would be fine also.

However, I have an M8 in hand now that I can not really use for the reasons I have posted in other threads.

My issue is not the technical side. I will happily wait two weeks for Leica to deliver that plan.

However, Leica has not made me happy commercially. They have not stated the fix will be handled in such a manner to not impact me financially and without any significant time period where I will be without the camera while it is upgraded.

I was a V.P. of Operations for a Fortune 100 company, and this would not have been tolerated by my customers.

Best,

Ray

..it is unbelievable how many are happy with a filter, sheeeshk it like getting the missus to run in front of the car with a torch because they forgot to find a place for bulbs in the headlights

Hey Imants, I didn't realize you only shoot black or white, or is it just your arguments that are like that?

Cut some slack and be reasonable. Your first comment is no more than 'clever verbage', at which you are well practiced, but it does not accurately reflect the situation.

Have you never stuffed up on a job and required serious breathing space to find a fix? I know I have. With the cooperation and consent of a reasonable client I have been able to laboriously work through a seeming impossible stuff-up to resolve to the total satisfaction of the client. It took time and patience. I believe that is what's happening here with M8.

The advance buyers were buying on the 'futures' market which everyone knows is very high risk. It didn't pay off! That is all. Unlike the futures market, they will surely be looked after eventually.

Cheers,

Erl

I do however agree with the sentiment of this remark, but my missus would not run in front because of her opinion of my driving!:D

I'm encouraged by the response. I haven't cancelled my order, and am looking forward to using the camera despite its flaws.

Cheers, David.

I agree with David here and i'm thankful to Guy, Sean, Pascal and others who have worked hard to try and find a working solution and bring it to the attention of Lecia as well as openly discussing their finds on this forum :) :) :)

I'm hoping to take delivery of mine late December when i arrive back in the UK.

If i have to buy filters i will but it's unlikely i'll be able to get them for some of my older Lecia lenses which couldn't be coded anyway.....:(

...they were happy to take the money from customers so they wear the cosequences

shrug,

I believe they are. So fair enough.:o

I see it all as responsibility on both sides.

One puts the money down - the other takes it. An equation.
