biglouis Posted June 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just don't have time to comment on all the good pictures I see here in the forum. One feature which is useful on Facebook which could work here is a 'Like' checkbox. An automatic comment would be generated a la: "BigLouis liked this photo". I'm not trying to stop good criticism but I sometimes feel bad that I don't comment because I feel a trite response like: "good photo" might appear to be trivialising the work. A simple counter might also state how many people also 'Like' the photo. I don't propose a 'dislike' or rating button because frankly I think it is abused on some photo sites I won't mention (like Photo.net). Advertisement Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Hi biglouis, Take a look here 'Like' box. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Marquinius Posted June 25, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 25, 2009 I recognize the feeling, but have an additional problem: there are sometimes so many posts, that I really have to skip and jump. That means I miss terrific photos. I use an RSS reader, so I can at least skim most new threads, but it's still hit and miss mostly. But a "like" thingy would be good. oh: and although you said you wouldn't, you mentioned one of the sites at the end

LouisB ...so, apart from the obvious convenience factor, how would a manually-generated comment such as "good photo" differ substantively from an automatic "BigLouis liked this photo"? MPerson Posted June 27, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 27, 2009 My problem, since the forum software was updated back in February, is I never see all of the new posts when I log in each time, despite religiously hitting the 'New Posts' button every visit. They show up eventually but by then a day or so has passed or a trillion more posts have shoved them so far down the pecking order that commenting is pointless! biglouis Posted June 27, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted June 27, 2009 ...so, apart from the obvious convenience factor, how would a manually-generated comment such as "good photo" differ substantively from an automatic "BigLouis liked this photo"? Not a lot, agreed. But you could also accumulate how many are received for a particular photograph and display it. LouisB
