coveredindoghair Posted June 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently was given my grandfather's Leica llF that he bought in 1955. The camera has been sitting for a long time now but read the manual and I tried all the settings and everything seems to be in working condition. So I was going to shoot a test roll of film. I'm not new to photography but I have olny used my dad's F2as with tri-x 400Tx and I own a D90. I was wondering what type of film should I use or try and if there are any films I should stay away from? The other question that I have is what iso can I use with the camera and what should the settings be in ASA/Weston, since the dial goes from 8 to 100? stunsworth Posted June 25, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 25, 2009 Welcome to the forum. Try a roll of print film - Kodak or Fuji, you can get the results quickly and see if there are any issues with the camera. If it's sunny try ISO 100, if not 400. Don't worry about setting the ISO, the dial on the back is for information only, there's no meter in the camera.

IIRC the film reminder dial is in the wind knob, but it's still for information only.
coveredindoghair Posted June 26, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted June 26, 2009 Ok, thanks for the replies. I loaded a roll of Kodak 200 that my dad had in his bag hopefully I'll be able to get out and shoot and develop the roll tomorrow.
