Just shot around a little here but what i notice is when i get the most banding is when there is sodium vapor and that maybe infared . Hmmm this maybe two sources. I will test this again with the Cut filters but anyway 1250 is a little noisy for my taste and if I brought them in to a program like Noise Ninja i am sure it would help them a great deal but regardless . I shot all of these with the 35 1.4 . Nothing special here folks just trying to invoke the banding. Here i see nothing . these are household lamps

Clyde I have a funny feeling about the banding and i maybe dead wrong but this IR issue may have something to do with it not the cause but the amount that shows

Not going to get into how much I love this thing already, it may get sappy. :D

Now sappy would be an interesting emotion around here at the moment:eek:

Check the lad's backpack harness color for the puple plague:(

I'd be curious if davida's polarizing tip will help with the streaking in most cases.

Mine is across town somewhere, I should have it tomorrow.

Thanks for the pics.

Bob

Guy, the picture with the ceiling mounted halogens is interesting. You've actually got 7 green blobs, one for each light, each a mirror image in the other half of the picture, symmetrical about the centre axis. A bit like Ian Watts picture of the blind eyelets, bright spots on the left give a green blob on the right, spots on the right give a blob on the left.

If the "green blobs" are the two dark spots on the ceiling top left, I think that those are just the "mirror image" echoes we've seen in other banding images - green-shifted due to your color correcting or because they are "negatives" of pinkish lights. They mirror the location of the two rightmost track lights, and I can see more of them dotted along the wall/ceiling seam, mixed in with the other track lights, and partially hidden thereby.

If there' some other green blob I'm supposed to see - I'm just missing it.

Andy

Draw a centre vertical line through the image. Measure the distance from each light to the centre line and then look the same distance the other side at the same vertical height. Green blob. Granted, the third one in is difficult to see, but the others are clear.

Let's get up close here i brought the value up in procesing so we can see it better than split the room in half the first is the left than the right side

Now i admit I am really pushing the issue on these a little. I just won't shoot at 1250 but still there are some issues as we see her and elsewhere but just so we don't think it is all doom and gloom it is certainly not . Just a couple quickies at 160 with ieither the 35 or 75 pretty much wide open. This is is far more encouraging

Uhh - folks, I CAN see the green mirror images of the halogen lights (reading comprehension 101). If these qualify as the "green blobs" then they are just part and parcel to the other aspects of banding (sensor-read bugs) we've seen.

Which is probably good news, since whatever fix Leica has in mind for the banding should solve the blob problem as well.

Most posts I've seen seem to treat the GB's as a separate issue - which would appear to be in error if this is them.

Anyway - nice shootin', Tex! (or Guy, or whatever the AZ equivalent is). Hope I get my Mate by the end of next week.

Andy I think those Californians call us from Arizona , Zoni's . It seems to fit us, we are all just half baked anyway. LOL

I do tend to agree the GB are directly related to the banding so they should go also when that gets fixed and honestly I think we are seeing some IR in there that shows it worse than it is. I am getting a bunch of cut filters in the next several days and if they work out correctly than we are getting closer to a knowing what a permenant fix should be
