jvan01 Posted June 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M8 occasionally will get a sticky shutter, where it doesn't recock from the prior shot. And the meter gets stuck at the previous shutter speed and I have to remove the battery to reset the camera. I was just wondering if any other users experienced this. I don't get any 'ERR' or 'Shutter Fault' messages in the LCD or viewfinder. I am still on Firmware 2.002 presently. I think this problem may be related to a low battery, but just wanted to gauge whether this might need further attention in the future.
Advertisement Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Hi jvan01, Take a look here M8 sticky shutter?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted June 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2009 Never had the shutter on either of my M8's fail to recock or get stuck on the last meter reading (as long as I fully release the shutter button). There was a thread about the M8 using the last meter reading if you let it go to sleep and then immediately pressed the shutter release without letting is fully come to life. If this happen often, with a low battery, I suggest you change out the battery more often. If it happens with a nearly full battery then you might want to send it to Leica before the warranty runs out.
jvan01 Posted June 16, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted June 16, 2009 I charged my battery overnight and have not had this problem since. So it appears to be a low battery related issue. Thanks.
