Shootist Posted June 21, 2009 Share #101 Posted June 21, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I downloaded some of the images in the gallery on the other site to give them a good look, yes they are only JPG. After looking at them I have come to the conclusion I will be sticking with the M8 as my main, and at this time only, camera system. Not that these new MFT camera system aren't good but they just aren't up to Leica image quality.
Advertisement Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Hi Shootist, Take a look here Olympus take a bite at the m8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jamie Roberts Posted June 21, 2009 Share #102 Posted June 21, 2009 To tell you a little secret, Ed, I was most intrigued by the high-def video coming out of the Oly 14 zoom... it looked really interesting (on dpreview).
snaggs Posted June 21, 2009 Share #103 Posted June 21, 2009 I think alot of people are approaching the review of the E-P1 the wrong way. I think its obvious the E-P1 isn't a M8 replacement, it has too much auto and no EVF as a start. However, Leica do have relationships with these guys. Imagine what Leica could do in a m4/3 body? I wonder how hard it would be for them to make a manual focus capable version? The lenses would be tiny! Daniel.

I'm not sure Leica and Oly have a relationship anymore, Panasonic yes but my understanding is Leica is even moving away from them to get back to being a German only company again. Shootist Posted June 22, 2009 Share #105 Posted June 22, 2009 I'm looking at it from a image quality approach. Until I find a camera that give me, IMHO, better images then the M8 I'll stick to the M8. It would be nice to have something like a P&S camera. But I've had 2 since getting the M8 and I just can't use them. I always said, when I looked at the images from them, "I should of had the M8 with me". Guest stnami Posted June 22, 2009 Share #106 Posted June 22, 2009 Imagine what Leica could do in a m4/3 body? ..........probably turn it into a crappy camera, they make better lenses than cameras. The old way of camera making is very different to the digital laneway...............
