Xmas Posted April 22, 2010 Share #23 Posted April 22, 2010 So, D76 1:1 is good with Tri-X but not with Pan-F+ and its better to use it 1:3 because it is too 'strong', right? Under normal light conditions and normal ASA50 development, what time do you use (dependent temperature) with D76 1:3 and how do you agitate ? Just to have an idea... Hi You don't need the quotes on strong, the more dilute developer increases edge effect improving acutance, cause it is differentially exhausted across light dark areas, to a greater extent. The dilution may tend to increase grain, but PanF is so fine grain anyway. With 1:3 I discard - one shot the dev. I use Ilford's time and temperature and agitation, religiously, - which are the same for D76 and ID11 - when using the Ilford developers and Ilford film. WIth Rodinal I stand 1:100 @20C, for 120 minutes, Rodinal keeps better, like for ever, and is cheap as well at 1:100. I think the ID-11 gives better speed & grain, than Rodinal. christoph_d Posted April 23, 2010 Share #24 Posted April 23, 2010 I've been using PanF in bright sunshine developed in Rodinal. Excellent negs finally! See the results in the People Photo Forum. I'll explain my process if there's any interest. Rolo Rolo, I'd be interested, could you explain please? Regards Christoph
Doc Henry Posted April 23, 2010 Share #25 Posted April 23, 2010 Used to get this film processed by Ilford but now starting to do my own. I used Ilfosol.3 1-14 with regular inversion for 6 mins. Ilford recommend this or 1-9 for 4 mins which seemed too short and could lead to uneven development or 1-14 for 6 mins as I did. The negs look OK but a touch pale, however I haven't printed any as yet. Comments very welcome thank you Kenneth, I like fine grain of Ilford so i only use Delta 100 or FP4 film I develop in the Ilfosol 3 (dilution 1+ 9) and gently shake about 10 seconds every minute (with my stopwatch) 5-6 minutes in total as you, or a bit more if i want a little more contrast stop with dilute acetic acid (30 sec) rinsing with tap water and fixing 5 minutes and over Developer and fixer always new here is an example: Welcome, dear visitor!
