Advertisement Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Hi andreas_thomsen, Take a look here dirty sensor after cleaning. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted June 13, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 13, 2009 Andreas I think you should try again; the swab needs to be damp across its full width and you should wipe slowly across the sensor applying just enough pressure to make the swab bend slightly. Try practicing with the swab you have already used and somethng like paprika sprinkled onto an old CD.

rob_w Posted June 13, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 13, 2009 Hi Andreas I had a moment of panic after my first 'wet' cleaning. Then I just repeated it several times until all the spots were gone. I have read elsewhere that it is often the case that several cleaning attempts are required. The VD sales literature rather gives you a different impression, perhaps. In my case the spots were mostly oil based, I think, which may help explain the stubborn resistance. Also check that no oil or grease has got onto the Arctic Butterfly brush itself, or you may find that it smears next time you use it. Shootist Posted June 13, 2009 Share #5 Posted June 13, 2009 Some times I need to do 2-3-4 cleanings before I get the sensor spotless. Other times one good damp swap cleans it in one pass. I figure if I'm taking the time to clean it I want it clean. So I work on it until it's spotless.

archi4 Posted June 13, 2009 Share #7 Posted June 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) All the advice is correct and eventually you will get it perfectly clean (sometimes I have had to repeat 3 times BUT you need sensor swab No. 1 and not 3. ! is the correct size for the leica M8 sensor. Remeber to use a new swab every time - expensive but the right procedure. Maurice
