LeicaMSeattle Posted June 7, 2009 Share #21 Posted June 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) The UPC on the filter box is 4-012240-14688. It reads on the side of the box 52 486 14688 MRC UV-IR-CUT. Incidentally, I bought mine from Adorama. I would imagine that this model is the regular thickness framed filter which is fine because the depth of the fixed hood on the CV15 is such that you are using the front edge of the filter to tighten the filter as it's threaded on and will be about level with the lower flutes of hood. ampguy Posted June 8, 2009 Share #23 Posted June 8, 2009 Then turn the menu settings to off for lens detection/filter. You may get some magenta effects with some black synthetics, but I don't know about corner issues. I don't get any corner issues with no coding, and as wide as 28mm without a filter, but 15mm is much wider. I do use filters for 50 and 75 when shooting color, sometimes 35. Use the latest firmware. what happens if you do not code it?
brill64 Posted June 10, 2009 Share #24 Posted June 10, 2009 Why not? sorry for the late reply...i have not experienced much, if any difficulty with cyan corners or infra-red to warrant the astronomical expense of that filter and holder, even on the cv12. am i missing something? maybe because i shoot mainly architectural interiors and in a tight corner i'll blow the dust off this lens and use it. if anything, i'd rather use a b+w center-filter but even then most of the correction can be done post in PS. i didn't mean my initial comment to sound negative, btw..it does look wonderful on the original photograph posted by photolandscape
bobdubois Posted June 11, 2009 Share #25 Posted June 11, 2009 Efftee, I have the older CV 15 coded as a WATE and use a 39mm B&W 486. It works perfectly as far as I can tell. I'm awaiting the delivery of the new version of the lens and have purchased a 52mm B&W for it as well. As I understand it, the CV lens cap is a snap in type which requires external threads on the filter. I don't have any slim filters but believe they typically don't have external threads (I may be wrong about this if so, I expect we'll hear about it), and sometimes come with a slip-on cap. If you go that route, it may be difficult to cap the lens given the fixed shade on the 15. Regards, Bob
