I have a mc meter and the cell needs replacing at the cost of 98.00 to 120.00 dollars. Has anyone repaired their meter cell, is it worth repairing and is the meter accurate after repair? The company that would do the repairs is Quality Light Metric located in California. Thanks.

The MC meter in working condition, is worth less than US$40.00. I would recommend that you find an MR or MR-4 meter, which can be had for about the same you would pay for the new Selenium cell in your MC meter.

The difference between the MR and MR-4 is the location of the meter switch. on the MR-4 it is more convenient as it sits on top of the meter housing and does not interfere with the rewind operation.

The MR meters are more sensitive, more accurate and provide the equivalent of a 90mm lens' angle of measurement. Key in the 90mm frame, activate the meter, measure the desired area and presto - you have an accurate reading.

Just my 2 cents....

Best,

Hello,

I have a Leica M4-P camera with a Leicameter. Since a few months I am having problems with its mercury battery of 1.3V as I need to replace it almost every 3 to 4 months although I am not using my camera often. Can you suggest some ideas either to repair my Leicameter or to use a different model of lithium battery (1.5V)

thank you.
