jlm Posted November 7, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) has anyone heard back from Leica about the issues seen in the first wave? Is there a possiblity Leica will hold back the next shipments until they review same?
Advertisement Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Hi jlm, Take a look here Leica response re: M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pascal_meheut Posted November 7, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 7, 2006 Maybe you should read the threads. Yes, they answered and they are working on a firmware solution. Give them time. BTW, the only real issue I'm aware of in the body is the banding one.
wparsonsgisnet Posted November 7, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 7, 2006 Well I have an issue. First of all they give the first camera to a French guy! Then some Europeans got them. Then some guys on the Left Coast got some. My dealer, on the Right Coast, told me they would all ship at the same time for all US dealers. I don't have a problem with having to get a fix. It'll be under warranty. I have a problem with not having the camera. The streaking posts have been most informative and helpful. I'm glad we all have this resource -- and that Leica pays attention to it. There's light at the end of the tunnel.
clayh Posted November 7, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 7, 2006 I have one already. There is light at the end of the sensor, to be more precise. jlm Posted November 7, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted November 7, 2006 pascal: it must have been the early hour, but did i overlook something about leica's response when I started the thread?
ho_co Posted November 7, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 7, 2006 John-- It was a bit of a surprise for some of us to see a "what's up?" kind of question since we've been following the issue closely for several days. Pascal's answer was full and complete. Leica is aware of the problem, looking for a firmware solution (which may or may not be possible), and has said nothing about holding up shipments. (After all, for most shooters the streaking almost never occurs.) There is no single thread where all the speculation and response is collected, so you're well within your rights to raise the question if you're just arriving here. Don't take offense. One place you might want to start is the first entry in the thread at http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/8834-update-leica-m8.html. What bothers me is that so far Leica doesn't seem to have said anything in regard to the green blob issue. That is, it isn't clear to me that Leica is researching that as well as the streaking. --HC

The French guy :-) I always vote; I just don't know if it's the right guy. They told us in school that the purpose of general education is to be able to read the paper and make intelligent political decisions. I missed something, somewhere. Bon soir, mon ami. Guillaume. jlm Posted November 7, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted November 7, 2006 actually, i posted the thread before the post about the leica response had been entered, then pascal responded, so i am wondering if there was some earlier leica rsponse that I missed. no problemo, however
