Ah, Mark, probably just misunderstandings, too .

Guest darkstar2004 Posted June 2, 2009 Share #42 Posted June 2, 2009 There is a distinct lack of (customer) service in all of Europe. Always was and I don't see it changing. You should be grateful to be allowed to spend your money here. Leica NJ is an exception in my experience, but it is getting bad here in the U.S. too. Big companies don't pay people enough and work them like borrowed mules. Alot of times employees are on salary and the companies help themselves to the "gift" of free labor that the salary arrangement makes possible (10-12 hrs. work for 8 hrs. pay, 6 or 7 days of work for 5 days pay, etc.). Add to that disappearing employee benefits and employees get the message: "You are an expendable commodity to be used up for the good of the company." Big companies - and small ones - are using the economic downturn/meltdown/train wreck as an excuse for employee exploitation. People aren't stupid - they get it. The result is poor customer service, poor job performance and employee resentment at being exploited. The employees develop the attitude of "They pretend to pay, I pretend to work" and "I don't get paid enough to care." The greed of employers has made them blind to one of the immutable laws of the universe: You get what you pay for - one way or another. JMHO...
