huubl Posted May 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) The next step in the resuscitation of my now (thanks to some of this excellent forum's members) beautifully working V35 enlarger is to try to remove the internal dust from the 40mm focotar. There's lots of small black debris on the internal elements. Could that be from the diaphragm?? Anyway, I want try to clean the lens. I can do summitars and elmars, but this focotar seems not to be easily opened. What's your suggestion? 1. Leave it as it is. The dust will cause hardly any problems and trying to fix it will make it worse. 2. Send it out for a CLA by a real technician. It's an excellent lens and worth the cost. 3. Dump it and find another one. (Not very easy to find one, I guess.) 4. Use the EL Nikkor, Focotar or Elmar 50mm enlarger lenses that I also have. The loss of autofocus is not a big deal. I value your opinions. TIA Huub
