jjsocha Posted May 17, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a CV 15mm Heliar that has a major asymmetrical vignetting problem: only two corners of the image are affected, the upper right and lower left (see sample photo). It's the same on each photo, and it seems to occur at any aperture. Does anyone know what the issue here is, and if this problem is repairable? Finnkare Posted May 17, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2009 How's your hood looking?
Bostrom Posted May 17, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 17, 2009 The small hood is fixed to the lens. I think the lens is screwed in way too far beyond "12 o'clock" More than to one o'clock would position the hood too much off center.
jjsocha Posted May 18, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted May 18, 2009 Thanks both for your quick replies. Now that you mention it, my lens does look different than others I see online. When looking at the lens with the white dot on top (as is mounted standard), the red lettering "aspherical" should be at the 9 o'clock position. In my lens, "aspherical" is at 5 o'clock. Is this something I can fix myself? If not, who might you recommend?
chanyapat Posted May 18, 2009 Share #5 Posted May 18, 2009 I had this problem before. Just change your l39->M adaptor to the one that will position your lens hood to 12 o'clock position (I think the proper one is for 50mm adaptor). cheers,
jjsocha Posted May 18, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted May 18, 2009 Thanks--I got my M adapter from ebay, perhaps that was a mistake. I'll try cameraquest this time. The camera is a CLE -- is the Type I adapter the correct one?

The camera is a CLE -- is the Type I adapter the correct one? I have no idea of the cameraquest adapter. I just tried with several adapters that I have, and my 50mm does fit the lens with hood at 12-o'clock position (with my Leica M5). Pat
