wtallman Posted May 15, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just got this auxiliary viewfinder for my IIIf and have figured out that it didn't do what I thought it would do (provide frame lines), but it's usable enough and looks good sitting up there in any case. What I can't figure out is what the distance scale with milled thumb lever is all about. What is it supposed to do? I can't see any difference in the image if I change the setting from infinity to closest focus; what should I expect to see, if anything? Advertisement Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Hi wtallman, Take a look here Leica Imarect/VIOOH question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Canfred Posted May 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 16, 2009 Hi Bill, set to the right distance it will match the view as the film plane has it. Parralax control is required since the finder is at a different position to the film plane.I hope this helps, Manfred

That makes sense. No practical difference at infinity, but at ten to fifteen feet maybe so if the framing needs to be precise. I'll check that out to see that shift in action. Tripod time...
