michael_b_elmer Posted November 4, 2006 Share #21 Posted November 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am in Denmark and ordered a black M8 in November-December last year at the leading Leica dealer in Germany, who put me on his waiting list as number 7. I have not received the camera yet, but hope to get it one of these days.

MP3 Posted November 7, 2006 Share #28 Posted November 7, 2006 Black here in Hong Kong. The major dealers here deliver the first batch of M8 today including mine. The black chrome M8 body seems slightly lighter than black chrome lenses. Cheers Matthew

Michiel What I heard is that Leica shipped more Chrome than Black at first. You asked what did people received, not what did they order. It may be different! franklinh Posted November 9, 2006 Share #36 Posted November 9, 2006 Speaking of th importance of chrome vs. black.... Just to show you how curious we leica nuts are. I was at my dealer in seattle and the Leica specialist was...he....just back from India was smelling the different Leica Cameras. He noted that the film Leicas had a beautiful smell, but the M8 had an "inert" smell. He smelled a VLUX-1 and said....."just nothing there". I expect that was a value judgement because he shot only film in India. I'll buy an Elmar-M 50mm from him tomorrow for my M3. See....he and I get along.... So the wonderful woman salesperson (who sold me my M7) next to him says, you guys are crazy! (And we know that women have a keener sense of smell than we guys do!) This is a freebie post. Crazy huh! Leica Culture....sheesh Franklin
