Enrique Santa Posted November 3, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 3, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I´m looking in the net and I don´t see nothing. I would like some opinions and sample pics from one of you that have tried the cam. Any new from a bag less ugly than the neopren one?
Advertisement Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Hi Enrique Santa, Take a look here Any news&sample pic of Digilux 3?????????. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spylaw4 Posted November 3, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 3, 2006 Not yet - patience is required! You'll need a big bag !
Enrique Santa Posted November 3, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted November 3, 2006 yes , but is strange.....there is no sample pics of the cam, or reviews. Take a look at this: M-ROCK » Catalog » SLR Holster & Gadget Bags » 88010
spylaw4 Posted November 3, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 3, 2006 I had a go with a pre-production D3 today (see the V-lux thread). I'l post one or two sample converted RAW files later when I've converted them. Oh and the upcoming R lenses - D3 convertor was 'confirmed'.
MJLogan Posted November 3, 2006 Share #5 Posted November 3, 2006 The D3 seems to be the last of the new releases to show up in the wild. Bad luck for me: I have one on order, and I'm getting anxious. All the "I've got my M8" amd "I've got my V-LUX" threads are making me crabby. It's nice to hear the occasional bit of news and praise for the D3, though. I hope to be forming my own opinions soon. I'll be especially interested in how other D2 fans feel about the D3 after they've experienced it in person. I think more than a few sceptics will be converted. miami91 Posted November 3, 2006 Share #6 Posted November 3, 2006 Any kit bag can be used. There was a whole other thread with people talking about their favourite bags --- perhaps you should reference this. Remember, this is a system camera (the D3). You won't want a simple camera case. You'll want a bag with room for multiple lenses, flash unit, filters, etc. Jeff.

Brian, So the D3s being offered for demo are "pre-production"? That would seem to indicate that the final product is still a ways off. If so, that's disappointing. Did you get any sense of when the camera would be shipping? Several dealer web sites still reference "available in October". While this is clearly untrue, I keep holding out hope that this means that shipment will be any day now. Jeff.
spylaw4 Posted November 3, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 3, 2006 V quickly - I was told "a couple of weeks". I got the impression they were finalising the firmware after Pansonic's recent upgrade.

miami91 Posted November 3, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 3, 2006 Thanks for the link. 1600 ISO is a bit noisy, no doubt, but I would imagine it would look quite decent converted to black and white. May try that when I get home later tonight. Also would be curious to see how it looks once put through Noise Ninja, which I will also try. Jeff. MJLogan Posted November 3, 2006 Share #11 Posted November 3, 2006 A couple of weeks, eh? I guess I'll quit obsessing about my D3 delivery date. The LFI pix were a treat, and very revealing. I've been a cheerleader for the decision to limit the D3/Panasonic L1 to 7.5 MP since before the L1 was released. The ISO 100 image almost holds its own against the M8, and ISO 1600 is useable in a pinch with some PP. 7.5 MP is obviously the sweet spot for the 4/3 sensor. Compare that to the V-LUX, with 2 extra MP on a much smaller sensor. Q.E.D.--the folly of pixel stuffing is revealed.
miami91 Posted November 4, 2006 Share #12 Posted November 4, 2006 Don't know if these will help or not, but took the LFI image and performed a couple of manipulations. In order, these images are 1)full sized converted to BW, 2)full size run through Noise Ninja (and a smart sharpen in CS2), 3)100% crop of lower right corner of regular image, 4)100% crop of lower right corner in BW, and 5)100% crop run through Noise Ninja. I guess the conclusion I'd come to from this (very limited) trial is that ISO1600 is usable, particularly if post-processed with decent noise reduction software. That being said, the need for it, given a decently fast lens and image stabilization, should be infrequent. Jeff. Welcome, dear visitor! spylaw4 Posted November 5, 2006 Share #13 Posted November 5, 2006 Thanks for the processed images, Jeff. I'm waiting for images from a production sample, but I'm saving up for the D3 already.
Enrique Santa Posted November 5, 2006 Author Share #14 Posted November 5, 2006 Woooau¡¡¡ I was out this weekend.....Thank you for the link Passion anf for the procesed pics, Jeffrey. Brian I think I´ll going to save for this cam too. I think 1.600 is absolutly usable, even without procesing, at last for for an amateur like I. Enrique Santa Posted November 6, 2006 Author Share #15 Posted November 6, 2006 Hi if you compared the pics of the tree cam, there is something strange in Digilux and v-lux. Look at the names writen on the floor. In the pic of M 8 looks incredible clear, even at hight iso levels. What is the matter with those taken with the Digilux 3.....obviusly we have better optic in M8....but I would like to know is this pics are JPG´s or raw. I think perhaps is Venus III engine working....brrrrr
miami91 Posted November 6, 2006 Share #16 Posted November 6, 2006 They're JPGs in final form, obviously. Don't know how they were taken with the camera, but I think it's safe to assume JPG. If they had shot them RAW, presumably they would have posted the RAW. Jeff.
fboyd Posted November 6, 2006 Share #17 Posted November 6, 2006 I have posted a link to some images that I have taken using a Panasonic L1. Images should be quite similar if not identical to the D3. All images were taken with the Oly 7-14 4.0 lens at 7mm (14mm equiz). All were hand held and no flash, most at exif data is available to view. miami91 Posted November 6, 2006 Share #18 Posted November 6, 2006 Those are nice photos --- very encouraging. And no "banding"!!! Starting to feel much better about buying the D3 now and waiting on the M8 for later... Jeff.
tommycrown Posted November 6, 2006 Share #19 Posted November 6, 2006 I understand D3 is pretty heavy, but how about shutter noise? Is there any? Or is it near silent just like D2? Thanks in advance~~ Tommy
tommycrown Posted November 6, 2006 Share #20 Posted November 6, 2006 Check out the Panny L1 (equivalent to D3) on the following site: Panasonic Lumix DMC L1 Review I agree with Michael on his opinion of how DSLR should have aperture ring on lens! I better save for D3! Tommy
