mike prevette Posted November 2, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 2, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) In all the RAW software I have used the vignetting correction is done by raising the gain of the effected regions of the frame. This can result in unfortunate artifacts, and personally I would rather have slightly burned corners than noisy corners. Example scenario: shot at 640 with the 15mm CV. Ok that leaves me almost 2 stops worth of vignetting in the corners. Correcting that would result in the outer corners having almost 2500 speed grain effecting it. Q: Does the M8 correct for the vignetting by raising the gain, or by some form of sophisticated luminance mapping? (I have a hunch its the first one) Q: Does anyone out there with the M8 and coded lenses notice a *textural* difference between the center of the frame and the corners of a corrected shot? I'm hoping Sean specifically can answer to this as he has done such an amazing job exploring the depths of this camera. _Mike_(burns his frame edges already)_Prevette
