LarryK Posted November 4, 2006 Share #41 Posted November 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Larry, I enjoyed the assembly slide show. Mine needs to be picked up in the US and brought discreetly home in carry-on luggage. Can you tell me how big the box is? thanks, scott Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I will be posting some shots with the actual camera as soon as I get them processed. Central Park was beautiful today... The box is English units: 8 1/2x7x7 1/2 (inches) Metric: 21.5x18x19 (cm) I hope the airport guys don't make you take everything out of the box but I would guess they would... Advertisement Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Hi LarryK, Take a look here Any US Arrivals Today. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
osera Posted November 4, 2006 Share #42 Posted November 4, 2006 Arrival via Fedex just a while ago, from Tony at Popflash (CA) to Birmingham, AL, US. Beautiful chrome finish, seems the same as my later model MP. Black body finish material seems the same, also. Battery charging.
brucek Posted November 4, 2006 Share #43 Posted November 4, 2006 Delivery from Tony at PopFlash to me in Rochester NY this morning. Waiting impatiently for the battery to charge. Already put a screen protector on it and I'm presently trying to figure out a way of getting the M lens carrier modified to mount on it. Shutter release definitely feels gritty (as someone else mentioned).
brucek Posted November 4, 2006 Share #44 Posted November 4, 2006 Update: Regarding the shutter I only seem to notice the lack of smoothness when dry firing the camera. In use I don't notice it a bit. But I did some testing with some IR and UV filters I have and good news - the M8 appears to be sensitive to both! WooHoo!! And regarding the shutter sound - for all the world it sounds to me like a quiet Polaroid SX70. I don't know yet whether that's good or bad... :-)
robbegibson Posted November 4, 2006 Share #45 Posted November 4, 2006 I picked mine up a few hours ago and the battery is charging as I write this. It feels like Christmas came early. I got mine at Camerawest, a nice Silver version, and I'm on the waiting list for a black one. The guys at Camerawest are terrific, I highly recommend them. So, after 4 hours of driving to Monterey and back I'm watching a little amber light on the charger, just waiting for it to go out. Fun stuff. Take care and I hope everyone gets theirs soon! Kent The nice man from Fedex brought my black M8 from Camerawest this morning. Sort of anticlimactic in some ways. It feels pretty much like an M7. That is not to say I'm not happy. I am very happy.
