alifie Posted April 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, Been a bit busy recently but over the last couple of weeks had some time for photography (goody goody). Dug out my Rolleiflex 2.8E for some fun, absolute failure, not a single good picture, what to do... Treat oneself to a (very nearly, worth saving £1000) new M7, so unused the oil was still on the bayonet flange! I like my M6 but the M7 with that simple (to the user anyway) addition of autoexposure makes it a whole lot 'better' (can't think of a suitable word). The veiwfinder seems a bit brighter too with more RF contrast. Upshot, the first film had some good pics on it and it was fun again. Will I buy new (to me anyway) bits of kit every time I have a photographers block? Probably if the money keeps comming in, don't tell the missus. So far I have taken 4 rolls of film with the camera complete in AE mode (color-slide, BW, C41) and the exposure is spot on on every single frame. Compared to my former M6, the RF has better contrast and I haven't noticed flare at all. Did I mention, that the shutter is quieter ? I have not developed any films as yet, but have felt a major (improved) difference in the shutter - both in the tactile feel and the noise level. AE is a very nice feature when shooting in varying lighting condition. The VF framelines are a lot brighter also. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
NB23 Posted May 1, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 1, 2009 Funny thing, altough the M7 has many advantages and is arguably the best of the whole M line (AE, quietest shutter,contrasty viewfinder, ttl flash and so on), I still prefer my M4-P for its framelines (the best I've ever used) and for it's lovely mechanical feeling, a thing the M7 lacks. But yes, there are some days when a meterless body is a pain in the ass. Even though my brain meter is accurate to 1/3 of a stop 95% of the time, there are times I just don't want to think about it.
