Close-up framing with Summicron 50

Hi!

 

I am one of those photographers who doesn't like to crop my negatives when printing/scanning.

I use the Summicron 50 on my M6, and I have a hard time framing the subjects in the rangefinder when I am shooting close-up. (Close-up in this case meaning closer than appr 3 meters.)

What I do is to frame the subjects intuitively "wrong" according to distance. But the closer I am to the subject, the harder it is to frame right...

Does any of you know if there are any rules or guides that will help me frame better?

Find a chain wire fence with a far horizon behind it. Line up the top of fence with the horizion and make separate exposures with the top, botton and both edges of your 50 frameline on it. Work out the parallax effect to infinity at close focus distances, and the actual location of your framlines. You will get a better idea of subject location and background. Then practice a lot. 50 should be a piece of p.....
