Richard Franiec Posted May 6, 2009 Share #21 Posted May 6, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) yes, that happened to me as well when i did my 1st attempt, kind of strange that the browser didn't give the warning again on the 2nd try. The warnings are possibly induced by misspelled URL to some pictures or something of this sort. There is no blogging on the page, thus no access to plant any bugs. Our scanning shows that the page is totally clean but we will analyse all possible causes. I apologize for any frustration due to uncalled for (in my view) warnings. Here is the good news: it has been confirmed that D-Lux4 with custom grip mounted fits perfectly into Leica leather case. Cheers Richard
Advertisement Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Hi Richard Franiec, Take a look here D-Lux 4 grip by Richard Franiec. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jdmurray Posted May 29, 2009 Share #22 Posted May 29, 2009 Richard Franiec's D-Lux 4 grip is easily attached, works exactly as described, and fits perfectly into the standard Leica D-Lux 4 case. It's very well made. It also is removable, with some good effort from one's fingers, without leaving any residual tracings on the camera. I had to remove the grip because, in the end, it was awkward for my very large hands. It's another smart and well-made D-Lux 4 product from Richard. Highly recommended. mikee Posted June 21, 2009 Share #23 Posted June 21, 2009 I am an owner of the Leica d-lux 4 in titan color... and hoping that a titan color of the grip by Richard Franiec becomes available... Would be realy happy for this to come out (silly me for getting a limited edition color I guess... the black looks pretty horrible against the titan. I will remain hopeful! =)
johnnyj Posted June 22, 2009 Share #24 Posted June 22, 2009 Richard, Which case are you talking about; the Leica champagne leather case with fold away front cover or the Leica molded leather case that requires you to remove the camera to use it? Thanks, John
Richard Franiec Posted June 22, 2009 Share #25 Posted June 22, 2009 Johnny, I'm refering to popular classic case not the one bolted to the cam via tripod screw. Hope, this helps Cheers Richard
roylance Posted June 23, 2009 Share #26 Posted June 23, 2009 I have Richard's grip on my D-Lux 4 and it is great, installation is simple, just follow the instructions. I do not know why one would want to remove it. You have complete access to memory card and battery. Lynn Ken is right, The grip is attached with VHB (very high bond) 3M clear transfer film. The film has exceptional bonding power but grip can be carefully removed without damaging camera finish or leaving stubborn residue. The adhesive could be reused when covered with slick backing material for storage (it will stay on the grip). First batch of grips is shipping today. Soon some of you will experience the difference in handling firsthand. Thank you for encouragement to make one and being patient during the development. kalina Posted June 29, 2009 Share #28 Posted June 29, 2009 I like the contrast. I'm getting that and the cable release adapter. Expect my order today!

kalina Posted July 3, 2009 Share #31 Posted July 3, 2009 Cool! I ordered mine on Monday and got it today. The grip attaches easily and looks nice on my Titanium. Now I can let all my friends with big hands use my camera! I will try out my cable release thingie soon.
kalina Posted July 3, 2009 Share #32 Posted July 3, 2009 The cable release thingie is also cool. Its success relies on a good cable release, so the one for my large format camera is too weak (I really have to press down hard). My Hasselblad cable release should do the trick. Richard Franiec Posted July 7, 2009 Share #33 Posted July 7, 2009 The cable release thingie is also cool. Its success relies on a good cable release, so the one for my large format camera is too weak (I really have to press down hard). My Hasselblad cable release should do the trick. I'm not sure if medium/large format cable release would work well. Some of them, I believe controll the aperture in the lens and the threading could be different. Adapter is made to provide support for great majority of standard SLR cables which includes ones collecting the dust. My favorite brands are Gepe and Kaiser, Japaneese cables are equally nice and well working; you can find real galore of cables here: cable release | B&H Photo Video Other large online stores carry them as well. espen Posted July 7, 2009 Share #34 Posted July 7, 2009 Bought Richard Franiec's grip for my D-Lux 4, and love it! Much easier to keep the camera in a "safe grip" now. Fits in my Leica casing too. Thanx for the tip!

Appreciate it. I'm a pratical person and think that the benefits of the grip will outweigh my questions on the visual aesthetic. I do want the hot shoe cover as well and as I will also be getting an aftermarket adapter and lenses I think it will have even more contrast with them all attached. Once I do get them all, I will post a photo. Cheers, mikee
sepiareverb Posted July 24, 2009 Share #36 Posted July 24, 2009 I've just gotten the grip and fit it to my D-Lux3. While the curve of the 3 seems slightly rounder from the front to the side the grip fits wonderfully. A vast improvement to the gaff tape I had stuck on the front of the camera. sepiareverb Posted July 25, 2009 Share #37 Posted July 25, 2009 I should say a slight adjustment was needed to the lower corner of the grip as it goes around the side of the camera- I filed off a small bit to allow the battery door to open. Took about 5 minutes.

Cheers Richard Hi Richard, I purchased an RF grip along with a hot shoe cover and a Lensmate adapter at Lensmateonline.com. If DL4 is fitted with a ZAGG Invisible shield full body protector, would you know if the grip will stick securely to the shield without the shield peeling off from the DL4 body or do I need to peel the shield off from the DL4 before attaching the grip? I am hoping the grip will stick securely to the shield so its adhesive will not be directly in contact with the DL4 body. Thanks and warm regards. Richard Franiec Posted October 21, 2009 Share #39 Posted October 21, 2009 Sal, According to my feedback, the grip was applied to the covering at least in one case and the result was satisfactory. In the event of removal of the grip, there is a good chance to damage ZAGG covering, but I have not tested this scenario myself. Cheers Richard

In that case, it would just be fine, I am sure the grip will stay on the DL4 for quite a long while. regards, Sal
