Brent1965 Posted April 21, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, why do trial & error for years when I can call upon your experience. I love Extar 100 and use it religously in my Nikon f2. Now having very recently purchased my first Leica (iiiG #980983) and feeling nervous about only having f2.8 to play with indoors snapping friends & family I'm seeking opinions on 400ASA alternatives that are most similar in colour & rendition. What should I try?
Advertisement Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Hi Brent1965, Take a look here what is closest 400ASA alternative to Extar 100?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
russell c. greenberg Posted April 21, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2009 Brent, I suggest that you go to the Kodak website and search color negative films. Look up the specs on Ektar 100 first, then look up all 400 iso color negative films and compare specs. you could try Kodak Ultra Color 400 if your dealer has it in stock. Ektar 100 replaced Ultra Color 100. I think the 400 speed version of this film might be very close in sharpness and color fidelity. If you have a hand held meter for your IIIG, I suggest you set it for +1/3 exposure for all color negative films that you use. Hope this helps. Russell:)
